CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – More alcohol overdoses have been reported this year in Barnes County.

During a state targeted response to opioid steering committee meeting, City County Health District Community Grant Coordinator Katie Beyer said the increase in alcohol abuse is alarming.

But, VCSU Director of Counseling Services Dr. Erin Klingenberg believes better education has led more people to bring those suffering from an alcohol overdose into the emergency room.

Health officials believe increased education on the dangers of alcohol abuse will help curb binge and underage drinking across the state.
