VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- Saturday was the home opener for The Hi-Liner basketball teams. Both teams earned their first wins of the season, the boys won 79-74 and the girls 58-35. Valley City is back at home Tuesday for an EDC doubleheader against Wahpeton. The boys play at 5:45 and the girls at 7:30, both games will be on KOVC with video at NewsDakota.com

Valley City 79 vs. Lisbon 74
Riley Miller led a group of player who surpassed double digit scoring. Miller put up 19 points, Avery Bennefeld scored 17, Matt Lyter 12 and Hunter Burchill 11. Reese Huschka added 9. The team made 9 three point baskets and went 12 for 22 from the free throw line.
GBB: Valley City 58 vs. Lisbon 35
The Hi-Liner limited The Broncos to just 14 first half points and out scored them 32-21 in the second half. Lindsey Noeske scored 11 points in the first half en route to a 14 point game. Courtney Lloyd had 8 points and Grace Scherr and Taryn Dieterle both added 7.
Elizabeth Lyons provided a majority of The Broncos offense with 16 points. Brianna Nielsen, Kaitlin Geyer and Grace Elijah scored 4 points each.
