GRAND FORKS, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Both girls and boys fell behind early and never recoverd as Grand Forks Red Rver won both ends of the high school basketball doubleheader Friday night in Grand Forks. The Roughrider girls won 62-49 over Valley City in the first game and the boys downed Valley City 76-62 in the second game.

After Courtney Lloyd hit a three pointer 1:00 into the game, Grand Forks Red River would score the next 17 points and leads 31-13 at the half, The Hi-Liners outscored the Roughriders 36-31 in the second half but the damage had already been done.
Taryn Dieterle led the Hi-Liners with 12 points. Lexi Ondracek had 11 points, all in the second half. Courtney Lloyd ended with eight points and Mackenzie Pederson chipped in nine points.
BBB: Red River 76 VCHS 62
The Roughriders scored the first 16 points of the game and held the Hi-Liners scoreless for the first 4:19. Avery Bennefeld had a three-point play with 13:41 to go in the first half to put the Hi-Liners on the scoreboard.
Bennefeld led Valley City with 18 points, 14 came in the first half. Riley Miller had 17 points, 13 coming in the second half. Reese Huschka added nine points and Hunter Burchill finished with seven.
The Hi-Liners host Lisbon Saturday in another boy girl doubleheader. The boys play at 5:45 and the girls go at 7:30 at the Hi-Liner Activity Center.
