(NewsDakota.com) Katelyn Dathe had 13 points, and Kennedy Schimke and Alyssa Wishek each added seven as the Ellendale High girls basketball team won their home and season opener Tuesday night with a 38-32 victory over Napoleon-Gackle/Streeter.

The Cardinals (1-0) were outscored 11-4 in the second quarter, but in the third Ellendale rebounded with a 10-2 run.

MacKenzie Heflin had a team high 15 points for the Imperials (0-1). Kaylin Weigel contributed another six.

Both teams are back in action on Friday. Ellendale hosts South Border, and NGS meets Beach in the opening round of the Linton Shootout.
