N.D.  (NewsDakota.com)  The Cardinals Girls Basketball team is gearing up for their first contest of the 2017-18 season on Tuesday night against a non-region opponent, the Velva Aggies.  Both of these teams finished runner-up in their respective regions last year, the Aggies lost to Our Redeemer’s in the Region VI championship game in overtime and Carrington lost to Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier also in overtime in the Region III championship.  Carrington finished with a 21-3 overall record and Velva finished at 20-4 overall.

Andy Braaten, currently entering his 19th season as Head Coach for Carrington, says the Aggies will be a tough first game of the season.

After graduating two Seniors last year, Maara Nelson and Abigail Jarrett, the Cardinals will rely on three Seniors this year for their leadership; Haley Hewitt, Emerson Hoornaert and Jill Endres.

Braaten talks about some goals for this year.

Tonight’s game can be heard on AM 1600 KDAK and newsdakota.com, starting about 6:45pm, tipoff around 7pm.
