N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – More than $220,000 in federal funds were made available to the North Dakota Department of Transportation and National Park Service to several projects.
According to Senators John Hoeven and Heidi Heitkamp, The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) will be receiving $100,000 for road and infrastructure repair throughout the James and Sheyenne River Basins that were damaged by flooding. Another $100,000 was made to Divide County for the same issues.
Another $26,474 were made to the National Park Service in McKenzie and Billings Counties to reconstruct several Federal Lands Transportation Facilities.
“Today’s funds will help ensure that roads and transportation facilities in our state can continue to be used safely,” Hoeven said.
“If we want to get anywhere in North Dakota, it usually means we’re driving there,” said Heitkamp. “That’s why it’s so important that our roads, highways, and bridges are repaired and safe to travel on. These federal funds will help to support the rebuilding of roads and other transportation infrastructure damaged on federal lands due to rain and snow.”
Federal funds are made available through the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration’s Emergency Relief Program. This program helps to provide additional federal funds to support the reconstruction of transportation infrastructure, like roads and bridges, on federal lands that were damaged as a result of a natural disaster.
