N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) gang member was arrested by Border Patrol agents assigned to Grand Forks Sector.

The incident began at about 7 p.m., on November 15th, when Border Patrol agents arrested a 39 year old citizen and national of El Salvador who they determined to be in the U.S. illegally. Record checks confirmed the identity of the individual and that he had been previously ordered removed from the U.S. in 2013. A follow up investigation also discovered the subject to be a member of the MS-13 gang.

“This arrest is a testament to our cooperation with our DHS partners to disrupt one of the most dangerous criminal organizations in the United States,” said Chief Patrol Agent Aaron Heitke. “This arrest is the direct result from of information passed from Immigration and Customs Enforcement and a call from a concerned citizen.”

The subject is currently being held at the Grand Forks County Jail pending removal proceedings.
