N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Orphan Grain Train (OGT) is thanking individuals who donated books that were then distributed to individuals in Liberia.

According to the OGT, they were informed at the recent 25th anniversary convention that the book donations have impacted and changed lives for the children there.

“We are changing the culture over there first hand,” the group reports. “For so long books were so scarce. Now this summer, thanks to the efforts of so many- each child was able to take one home with them for the summer.”

The group says over 3500 students were assisted and in the fall, they estimate that they’ll have 5,000 students.

“The were each given a book and an assignment to swap books with five other kids in the hopes that they would be able to read five books this summer,” OGT says.

Pastors in Liberia were also helped with a donation of bibles and bible reference books. OGT has been donating many things to Liberia including chalkboards, desks, school supplies and more with several other donations in the works.

“All books in the warehouse are packed up and we have lots of Mercy Meals. We are preparing the paperwork for a shipment there. The plan is for the end of November,” they stated.
