(NewsDakota.com) The Lisbon High volleyball team threw everything they had in the first two sets of their Class B Region I tournament semifinal match with Northern Cass.
In the end, it was the second seeded Jaguars ending the hopes of any championship berth for the Broncos, defeating Lisbon three sets to one Tuesday night at Fargo Oak Grove Lutheran School.
Northern Cass (24-7) won by scores of 25-22, 21-25, 25-18 and 25-17. For the second straight night, Bailey Nelson lead her team in kills, with 22. Faith Aasen added another 12, and Sydney Anderson registered 11.
Lisbon (27-10) saw Elizabeth Lyons pick up a match high 25 kills and added a pair of aces. Preslie Ercink, Grace Elijah and Payton Lund also earned two aces apiece.
Northern Cass will play for a Region I Championship for the first time in four years, while Lisbon will be involved in the third place match. Central Cass will meet Northern Cass after defeating Richland three sets to one earlier in the night.
The Broncos and Colts meet for third place Thursday at 6 p.m., followed by the Jaguars and Squirrels for the title at 7:30. Coverage of the third place game on Q101.1 FM and NewsDakota.com starts at 5:45 p.m.
