JAMESTOWN, N.D. (JimmieAthletics.com) – The University of Jamestown basketball teams swept Dordt College Saturday afternoon at Newman Arena.

#9 Jimmies 90, Dordt 63
Bryn Woodside (SR/Albert Lea, MN) followed up her career night Friday with another personal best Saturday, scoring 28 points to help the No. 9 Jimmie women’s basketball team to a 90-63 win over Dordt (Iowa) College at Harold Newman Arena.
Woodside made 11 of her 18 shots from the floor, sinking four three-pointers, and was 2-for-3 from the foul line in just 22 minutes of action. She also dished out eight assists, recorded three steals, and did not commit a turnover.
Allison Jablonsky (SO/Blaine, MN) connected on four of her six three-point attempts to finish with 14 points off the bench, and Paige Emmel(SR/Bismarck, ND) was also in double figures with 13. Jenna Doyle(JR/Princeton, MN) and Marina Nowak (JR/Rogers, MN) each pulled down a team-high seven boards.
Jamestown (4-1) led by as many as 15 with 7:24 left in the first half, but the Defenders scored 14 of the next 20 points to cut the Jimmie lead to seven. UJ finished the half on a 7-2 run to lead by 12 at the break.
The second half belonged to the Jimmies, as they pushed their advantage to 21 after a Jablonsky three made it 67-46 to close the third quarter. Payton Harmsen’s three-pointer to open the fourth quarter brought Dordt within 18, which would be the smallest Jimmie lead for the rest of the game.
Erika Feenstra had 18 points for Dordt (1-2). Annie Rhinesmith finished with 14 points, seven rebounds, and five assists. Rachel Evavold also had seven rebounds to go along with her 12 points.
UJ was outrebounded 43-41, but had a 26-13 advantage in points off turnovers, and a 34-8 edge in points off the bench. The Jimmies shot 44.9% for the game while holding the Defenders to 37.9% shooting.
Jamestown hosts No.3 Concordia (Neb.) Friday at 5:30 p.m.
MBB: Jimmies 99, Dordt 82
Leighton Sampson (SR/Worthington, Minn.) scored 23 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and blocked five shots to help lead the Jimmie men’s basketball team to a 99-82 win over Dordt (Iowa) College Saturday afternoon.
Sampson, who played at Dordt the previous three seasons before transferring to Jamestown, made 11 of his 13 shots in the game. He scored 17 straight UJ points during a seven minute and nine second span in the first half.
Despite Sampson’s dominant first half, the Defenders hung with the Jimmies. Jesse Jansma put Dordt ahead 28-27 with a three-pointer at the 9:54 mark. The rest of the half saw three ties and four lead changes, with UJ taking an eight-point lead at the break.
Jamestown led 65-48 after a Sampson basket with 17:40 to play, and the Jimmies would not lead by any fewer than 10 the rest of the way. UJ’s biggest lead, 22 points, came after Sam Johnson (SR/Mora, Minn.) made a pair of free throws with three minutes left.
Kevin Oberweiser (JR/Drummond, Mont.) finished with 21 points, including five three-pointers. Ben Weisbeck (SR/Bismarck, N.D.) had 19 points and seven rebounds, and Jon Purintun (JR/Linton, N.D.) was also in double figures with 12. Oberweiser, Purintun, and Isaiah Dobson(SO/Stillwater, Minn.) all dished out three assists.
Jansma’s 11 points off the bench led Dordt (1-2). Kobe Critchley added 10 points and three assists. Josh Van Lingen chipped in with eight points and four rebounds.
The Jimmies are at home Wednesday against 10th-ranked Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.). Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
