JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The annual Kids Against Hunger packaging event is slated to begin this Saturday and the Kiwanis club is making their final fundraising push.

“We’re doing really well on volunteers, but we could certainly use some more funding,” co-chair and event organizer Janna Bergstedt stated.

The club has set their fundraising goal at ,000 and are roughly ,000 short of that goal. As far as volunteers, Bergstedt says they’re very happy with the expected 350 volunteers who have signed up. Although they’ll continue to take donations, they have a plan if they don’t reach their goal by Saturday.

“Our anonymous donor has said he’d pick up the remaining, so we’re still fundraising, but have a backup plan if we can’t get the total amount,” Bergstedt pointed out.

Each meal packaged cost roughly 25 cents to put together. Last year, the group was able to package 178,000 meals and reached a milestone of 1 million packaged meals. All money and food packaged will stay local according to Bergstedt.

Donations can be dropped off at any First Community Credit Union in Jamestown or by donating here.
