OAKES (NewsDakota.com) An Oakes educator has been honored by the North Dakota Department of Public Instruction.

Tara Steiner, a Title I teacher for the last 15 years in Oakes, was named the 2017-18 North Dakota “Title I Exceptional Educator” Wednesday.

students that have been lucky enough to have Tara as one of their teachers, have experienced growth and success because of her focus on genuine relationships, respect for students, parents, and staff members, and her intense growth-mindset.”

The honor means that the Oakes Elementary School will receive a $12,000 grant. The funds can be spent on any allowable Title I expenditure, such as materials for classroom, attend conference or training, iPads, etc.

In addition, Steiner, who is working on obtaining her Masters of Education Degree in Teacher Leadership from North Dakota State University, will receive a signed certificate from the Director of Federal Title Programs and Superintendent of Public Instruction.
