N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Extensive work on the dome of the Foster County Courthouse is wrapping up soon.
It was decided earlier this year by the Foster County Commission that work needed to be done on the dome of the courthouse. Leo Straley was awarded the contract of doing the dome work. Foster County Commissioner Becky Hagel says they’ll hold on painting the dome until Spring.
According to the bid, numerous items needed to be addressed with the dome repair.
“Repairs include remodel and replacement of minor wood structural members, sheathing, wood intermediate floor/platform,” the bid states. “Project also includes construction of new wood access stairs within dome, with replacement of four dome windows, paint and eight windows in the lower dome.”
Hagel reports that the commission received a study from the architect on what needs to be done with the restoration of the entire courthouse. She says the project will be an ongoing project.
Hagel says they plan to meet in November to get more information on needed renovations. Photo courtesy of Valley News Live.
