N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The University of Jamestown Men’s Hockey team spent last Monday planting trees in partnership with the Jamestown Parks and Recreation Department.
According to City Forester Sheri Steckler, former Forester Doug Wiles applied for a grant in 2015. Because the city was unsure if they would have a city forester in his transition leaving the position, the project was tabled until this year.
Steckler says it will take time for the 50 trees to mature. She says they have three different types planted along the hill.
It took the volunteers around 4 hours to plant all the trees. Steckler gave a lot of credit to the city street department for making the project move along smoothly.
