MADISON, S.D. (PlayNorthStar.com) – The ninth edition of the Dacotah Bank/North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Football Players-of-the-Week honors were announced by the conference office Monday. Jacob Giles of Dakota State (S.D.) was selected to the Offensive Player-of-the-Week, while his teammate Brywn Ractliffe was chosen as the Special Teams Player-of-the-Week. Travon Smith of Valley City State (N.D.) was picked as the Defensive Player-of-the-Week.

Football Defensive Player of the Week
Travon Smith – Valley City State (N.D.) – 6’3″ – 194 lbs., Sophomore – defensive back – Phoenix, Ariz. – Smith was a game-changer for Valley City State (N.D.), despite a 31-28 North Star football home loss to Dakota State (S.D.). He had an interception in the end zone and blocked a punt, both of which led to Vikings’ second-half touchdowns and a comeback that came up just short. Smith finished the game with 8 tackles (6 solo, 2 assist) and also broke up two passes.
