N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A road that has been in the works for some time will hopefully be open to the public by the end of the month.
The Menards to Jamestown Regional Medical Center road has been in construction since the summer. According to Interstate Engineer Steve Aldinger, they could make it right to the October 31st deadline.
The $2.1 million road will give residents another option to reach the hospital without using Interstate 94. The project also includes water and sanitary sewer that can be used for possible future construction in the area.
Aldinger says the road will be open this year, but the finishing touches will be added next year when they do one more lift paving and permanently stripe the road. As far as hiccups go, there wasn’t much. Aldinger says the main issue was North Dakota weather.
Street lighting is also underway. Aldinger reports that the concrete footings for the lights had been poured last week.
Aldinger says he isn’t sure what the plan is for development in the area, but the project provides opportunity for that should the time come.
