JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Members of the Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassador Committee and the Young Professionals of Jamestown presented the Customer Service Award for October to Elayne Patzner, employed by the US Post Office, Jamestown branch, for her outstanding customer service.
“The chamber honors individuals who demonstrate a consistent commitment to delivering products or services that satisfy customers by exceeding their requirements or expectations,” they stated.
Elayne’s was nominated by someone who had a positive experience while at the Jamestown Post Office:
“Elayne is an outstanding employee and always shows a friendly face when I go to the post office,” the nomination letter reads. “I mail several packages a week, and on one particular day, I had many packages to mail, and it was close to closing time. I felt bad that it was so close to closing, but Elayne took my stack and began processing them. We got to talking about their different stamps, and I finished my transaction and left. About a week later, I returned with more mail, and I was lucky again to be in Elayne’s line, and she proceeded to apologize for an error that was made the previous time. She explained that she had missed one of my packages and that she didn’t want me to have to return, so she paid for the $6.65 postage out of her own pocket. I left the post office that day knowing that she truly cares about the people she helps each day. She did not have to pay for my postage, and she could have chosen to call me and have me return to pay. Instead she paid from her own pocket. This is what customer service is all about. Thank you to Elayne for all you do for your customers.”
The Jamestown Chamber of Commerce congratulated Elayne, who along with all the other monthly winners, will be recognized at the Chamber’s annual banquet in January 2018.
