N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – On Presidents Day in 2019, the Alfred Dickey Library will celebrate 100 years in Jamestown.
Bill Kennedy, Development Director for the James River Valley Library System, reports that they are continuing major renovations to not only bring the library into the latest technology, but to prepare it for 100 years in the community.
The total costs of the project are estimated to be around $550,000.
“Library Director Joe Rector has identified multiple projects that are identified as the Centennial Initiative,” Kennedy reports. “A new roof has been installed to prevent water damage to walls, ceilings and the collection. The foundation needs to be reinforced, new drain tiles installed, new landscaping put in place. New shelving, new carpet, new furniture, and new electrical are needed to house the collection and create a comfortable and safe environment for all patrons.”
The library is currently at $248,000 raised for the project. Kennedy says those interested in assisting with fundraising efforts can help anyway. Click here for the online donation link or send a checks to:
