NEW ROCKFORD, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Voters in New Rockford and Sheyenne went to the polls on Tuesday to decide on a $3.26 million special bond for proposed wall renovations.

The school reports that the votes are in. Unofficially, 357 voters said yes and 183 said no, resulting in 66% approval for the special project.

Earlier this month, Superintendent for New Rockford-Sheyenne schools Jill Louters reported that a contractor had found many issues when looking into window replacement in 2016.

The approved special bond is just the beginning for New Rockford-Sheyenne school’s longterm plan which consists of replacing unit ventilators, air pressure temperature control system, electrical upgrades and rebuilding exterior windows and walls. The total cost for the new construction is estimated to be around $19.8 million.
