N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) has awarded three grants to two communities and one rural water district to assist with different projects.

The DWSRF Program is administered by the North Dakota Department of Health with funding from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The program offers below-market interest rate loans to political subdivisions for financing projects authorized under the Safe Drinking Water Act.

Jamestown, Mercer and the Traill Rural Water District all recieved funding from the DWSRF for 2017. The include:

· Jamestown – $1,538,000 to rehabilitate aging drinking water mains.

· Mercer – $1,693,000 to connect Mercer to the McLean-Sheridan Rural Water District and to replace aging drinking water storage facilities, aging and undersized drinking water mains, and inoperative water meters.

· Traill Rural Water District – $700,000 to improve the distribution system and deliver additional water to customers during peak water demand. This project is also the first phase in connecting the Traill Rural Water District and the Grand Forks Traill Water District to provide a back-up water supply for both systems.

DWSRF programs operate nationwide to provide the funding necessary to maintain and improve the infrastructure that protects and supplies valuable water resources.
