Saturday the VCSU Viking Club Tennis team hosted their 9^th annual USTA Northern Section Tennis-On-Campus home invitational with teams from UND, NDSU, MSUM and Gustavus.

The Viking Club Tennis team went 2-0 in pool play beating UND B 25-11 and then MSUM 25-14. The Vikings only dropped 2 out of 10 sets during pool play with Freshman Caitlyn Hunter (Williston) and Sophomore Brandon Miller (Valley City) getting big wins at the singles spots and our Seniors Paige Fettig (Bismarck) and Dustin Miller (Valley City) finishing both matches with big wins at mixed doubles.

VCSU then faced off with NDSU for the 2^nd time this year in the championship match. VCSU pulled out a close victory 25-18. The Vikings had a narrow lead 19-13 going into the final mixed doubles round and our Seniors Paige Fettig and Dustin Miller pulled out a close victory 6-5 in an incredibly well played match on both sides.

The Vikings this season are now 6-0 in individual match play and have two 1^st place USTA Northern Section tournament series victories and currently ranked number 1 overall in the USTA Northern Section. Freshman Caitlyn Hunter is a major part of our team’s success this fall, she is now 8-0 overall this season and 6-0 in singles matches. She continues to play at an incredibly high level and has been a perfect fit for this club tennis team!

Next action for the Viking Club Tennis team is this weekend in Minneapolis, MN for the University of Minnesota Gopher Invitational.
