N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown Ambulance will be offering a course to interested individuals to become an EMT.
With a decline in Emergency Medical Technicians occurring nationwide, the need of First Responders, EMTs, and Paramedics continues to grow. Paramedic and AHA Coordinator Jenny Iverson says she hopes their upcoming course at the end of October will help bring forward the newest line of EMTs.
Iverson says the course will focus on topics including medical emergencies, trauma emergencies, dealing with individuals with special needs, car accidents and more. She pointed out that a lot of those still in EMS are getting older and it’s time for others to step up.
Individuals who are interested, but are not from Jamestown, can still get training and help their Emergency Medical Service locally.
The Jamestown training will begin at the end of October and run through June 2018. The training will take four hours a week and interested individuals do not have to have medical experience in order to become an EMT.
For more on the course or the Jamestown Ambulance, an open house will be held Thursday, October 5th at the Jamestown Ambulance starting at 6:30 PM. Call Jenny Iverson for more information at 701-251-2273. Listen to a full interview with Jenny below:
