N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- Two points made the difference Friday night in Milnor. The Bulldogs of Milnor/North Sargent stifled Maple Valley/Enderlin’s 2 point attempt in overtime and held on to win 36-34. The Falcons drop to 3-3 on the season and 2-3 in Region 1. MNS earns their first region victory of the year and is now 1-4.

Dustin Kasowski’s pick 6 early in the 1st quarter put MVE up 6-0. Hunter Smith added 6 more with a 1 yard quarterback keeper with just under 3 minutes left in the opening period. The Bulldogs answered back with 3 scores in the 2nd quarter and led 22-12 at halftime.

Brandon Pierce punched the ball into the end zone and run in the two point conversion to trim The Falcon’s deficit to 22-20 heading into the fourth. MVE would strike first in the final 12 minutes on AJ Punton’s touchdown, Smith connected with Brandon Pierce for the 2 points. Dawson McKeever tied the game with 2:46 left. The Bulldogs pass attempt for the extra points came up short and the game went into the overtime knotted at 28.

In the extra quarter MNS had the first possession, McKeever found Carter Anderson for a 15 yard strike. The Bulldogs’ two point run was good. Kasowski punched the ball across the goal line from the 1 setting up a do or die two point conversion for The Falcons. EMV’s running play failed and MNS sealed the victory.

The Falcon’s compiled 330 yard of offense, MNS had 309. Smith was 10 of 25 passing with 127 yards. Carter Killoran hauled in 5 catches for 76 yards. Pierce made 3 receptions for 38 yards. Punton led the ground attack with 101 yards on 19 carries. Kasowski touched the ball 10 times with 87 yards rushing and 5 receiving.

Darian Walburn paced MVE’s defense with 11 tackles, Pierce, Kasowski and Lain Combs registered 9 and Logan Mulder 8.

Maple Valley/Enderlin plays at Oak Grove Saturday.
