VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown and Valley City played in high school football for the first time since 2001 and the Jays ran their winning streak in the truncated series to three. Jamestown jumped on the Hi-Liners early and rolled to a 42-6 victory.

After fumbling a punt on their first chance with the football, Jamestown responded with a 97-yard drive capped off with a Jared Kallenbach 17-yard touchdown catch with just under four minutes remaining in the opening quarter. A few players later, they turned a long punt return into a one-play, 36-yard drive, punctuated by a Jared Harr touchdown run.

The Jays got two more scores in the second quarter. An eight-yard catch by Jeremy Williams and a one-yard run by Zach Petrek.

Jamestown improves to 4-2 on the season and can clinch no worse than the #3 seed in the playoffs with wins against Wahpeton and Devils Lake the next two weeks. The Huskies and Firebirds play a six overtime classic tonight with Wahpteon winning 48-46.

Valley City falls to 0-6 and has a trip to soon-to-be #1 Shanley, following their 17-14 over St. Mary’s.
