VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- It’s a match up that hasn’t happened in over a decade,Valley City High School and Jamestown High will play on the gridiron Friday night in Valley City. The two program last met August 31st 2001, The Blue Jays shutout The Hi-Liners 21-0.
Valley City enters the game 0-5, they lost to Devils Lake last Friday night 52-12. After shuffling around some positions on offense The Hi-Liners had a better showing against The Firebirds, coach Scott Roehrich saw some of the improvements he was looking for
Jamestown High became the first team to score against defending state champions Bismarck St.Mary’s in their 17-10 loss. The Jays come to Valley City with a 3-2 mark,their other loss was at the hands of Shanley 14-7.
Friday’s match up will not only be homecoming for The Hi-Liners but also introduces a new traveling trophy. The winner walks away with The Iron Helmet Trophy presented by Farmers Union Insurance. Roehrich hopes that this game again becomes a staple for both teams
