N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Oakes High volleyball team knew their Thursday night contest on the road would be a challenge. Barnes County North won the first set between the squads in an epic battle, but in the end, Oakes won the next three to win the match 3-1.

Oakes won by scores of 26-28, 25-14, 25-23 and 25-14 to improve to 3-1 in Class B District 5. The Tornadoes were lead by Nicole Schmitz and Taylor Roney who each had double-digit kills. Bailey Skjefte had a team high two aces.

BCN (2-1) had three aces from Ashley McFadgen, to go along with six kills.
