VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A proposal to build an addition to the North Dakota Winter Show is on track after the Visitors Committee and the City Commission approved of a Food and Beverage Grant that will be used for fire protection upgrades.
Valley City Administrator David Schelkoph said under the grant $50,000 will be paid per year for four years starting in January of 2018.
Valley Realty is leading the project that is tentatively set to be completed in February of 2018. Spokesman George Gaukler talked about the fire door installation.
North Dakota Winter Show manger Dawn Riley thanked the city for their support.
Riley said under the agreement a new fire protection sprinkler system will have to be installed. She said the North Dakota Winter Show will have three years to raise the money for the sprinkler system.
Riley said the Valley City-Barnes County Development Corporation agreed to purchase 2.6 acres of land owned by the Winter Show for $350,000 just east of the Regional Technology Center for future development. Riley said the money from the land purchase will be used to build the new addition. The total project is estimated to cost $500,000.
Once complete, the front entrance of the North Dakota Winter Show will be expanded by 3,360 square feet for offices, an atrium and a new ticket office.
