N.D. (JimmieAthletics.com) – Annie Nelson (SR/Bismarck, N.D.) has an eight-shot lead after the first round of the North Star Athletic Association Conference Tournament.

Nelson’s 1-under 71 was the only score under par during Monday’s opening round.

The Jimmie women hold a two-stroke edge over Viterbo University, 337-339.

Jenna Knutson (JR/Boulder, Colo.) is tied for 7th with a 15-over par 87. Paige Argent (FR/Minot, N.D.) is tied for 10th at 17-over 89.

Savanna Nesemeier (SR/Kindred, N.D.) is in a four-way tie for 12th at 18-over 90. Alexis Piatz (JR/Oxbow, N.D.) is tied for 25th at 29-over 101.

Nathan Kapaun (SR/Fargo, N.D.) and Jacob Rice (JR/Mitchell, S.D.) each shot 1-over 73 to earn a share of a three-way tie for first place at the North Star Athletic Association Conference Tournament.

The Jimmie men shot a combined score of 298 Monday and are 11 shots ahead of second-place Viterbo (Wis.).

Zach Gomez (FR/Westminster, Colo.) is fourth after a 2-over 74. Nolan Frank (SR/Sartell, Minn.) is tied for 11th with a 6-over 78 while Austin Rene (SO/Jamestown, N.D.) is tied for 23rd at 10-over 82.

 

Round two of the tournament is Tuesday at Bully Pulpit Golf Course. The final two rounds of the tournament will be played in the spring.
