(NewsDakota.com) The Oakes High School volleyball team earned their second sweep in three days; this time defeating South Border 3-0 Thursday.
The Tornadoes won by scores of 25-9, 25-14 and 25-21. Oakes (9-6, 2-1 Class B District 5) only trailed once in the first two sets, and that was at the beginning of the second set. In addition, Oakes never trailed by more than two points in any set.
Oakes had nine aces, four of them from Taylor Roney, and 29 kills with Nicole Schmitz registering 12.
South Border (5-11, 0-2 Class B District 6) was lead by Myckea Gross with five kills and an ace.
Oakes next suits up Monday, September 25 when they host Sargent Central. Coverage on KDDR-AM 1220/95.9 FM and NewsDakota.com starts around 7 p.m.
