 as the Vikings wrapped up the top spot at the two-day Dickinson State Invite.

The Viking men took four of the top five individual spots and finished with a 36-hole total of 601 (303-298) to win the small tournament played at Heart River Golf Course. VCSU and Dickinson State fielded complete teams, along with a few golfers from Miles City Community College.

After shooting even par 72 on Sunday, VCSU junior Jared Lentz followed with a 74 on Monday as he tied for first place with a 2-over 146. It is Lentz’ third tournament victory during his Viking career.

VCSU’s men took four of the top five spots at the meet. Casey Julson carded a 4-over 148 to place third; Kyle Wiebe shot 149 to finish fourth; and Cameron Rall fired a 152 for fifth place.

Valley City State’s women placed second to Dickinson State at the meet, firing a 382 on Sunday and then shaving 15 shotson Monday with a 367.

Nicole Heinitz had a strong meet to place third in the women’s standings. The Viking senior shot 87-87 over the two days. Jayden Romfo came in seventh place with a 186 total. Megan McNamee placed ninth; Taren Braunberger was 10th and Mikayla Smith finished 13th.

Up next: Valley City State will compete at the Jamestown Fall Classic on Sept. 17-18 at the Jamestown Country Club.
