N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—–The Carrington Cardinal girls volleyball team defeated Edgely-Kulm-Montpeiler (EKM) 3-1 (17-25, 25-8, 25-18, 25-22) to win their 2017 home opener. EKM started the night off with a convincing 25-17 win in set one but the Cardinals stormed back with a 25-8 victory in set 2 that seemed to turn all the momentum back to the home team.

Bella Hone led the Cards with 11 kills and Emerson Hoornaert added 10 kills and 2 aces. McKayla McIntosh added 9 kills and 2 aces, and McKenzie Johnson added 5 kills and a match high 3 aces.

EKM standout Katie Entzi had a match high 20 kills to pace the Rebels offensive attack. The Rebels drop to 2-2 overall and 0-1 in District 5 play and Carrington improved to 3-0 verall and 1-0 in District 5 play. Carrington will travel to Park River next Tuesday night (September 12th) and the match will be aired on AM 1600 KDAK and newsdakota.com
