VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The city of Valley City has a city attorney and human resources director all in one position.

Earlier this year, Lilie Mertins accepted both positions. She previously served as the City Municipal Court prosecutor and Assistant Barnes County State’s Attorney. Mertins said her previous job experience was HR related before she became a licensed attorney.

Mertins was sworn into her positions by Mayor Dave Carlsrud during the city commission meeting on September 5th.

Valley City Administrator David Schelkoph said her annual salary for the combined positions will be $85,000 plus benefits.
