N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown High football team found themselves stuck in neutral on offense with only 10 points scored in their first six quarters before a 40-point second half outburst. The Jays trailed 6-3 after the first half and came away with a 43-6 victory over Watford City on Friday night.

Connor Fuchs knocked down a 32-yard field goal to put Jamestown in front midway through the second quarter before the Wolves answered with a quick drive to score their first and only touchdown. QB Cooper Knutson hit Elijah Brown on fourth down in the corner of the end zone from 11-yards away.

On the first drive of the second half, Watford City stalled on fourth down around midfield and that was the turning point. From then on it was all Jays. They scored 40 straight.

Zach Petrek scored on runs of 4, 11, and 39. His 11-yard touchdown came on 4th down-and-five while breaking three tackles. Brandon Dallman ripped off a 66-yarder for a score.

Seniors Leo Halko and Jared Harr also found pay dirt.

Petrek and Jared Kallenbach both came up with interceptions while the Wolves also fumbled three times.

Jamestown (1-1) heads to Central Cass next week to battle the Squirrels who are coming off a heartbreaking 20-14 to Devils Lake. The Firebirds scored on the final play of the game to break a 14-14 tie.
