VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Valley City State University programs have been ranked 10th in the nation among the “50 Best Online Bachelor’s of Education Degrees 2017” by College Choice.

College Choice compared academic reputation, student satisfaction and average annual salary of graduates from online education programs to create the ranking of the 50 best programs in the country.

The results were published online at www.collegechoice.net/rankings/online-education-degrees.

The College Choice article emphasized the VCSU technology education program, stating, “For those who are interested in finding work in the high-demand field of STEM education, this program provides high-quality training in public school technology teaching.”

Peder Gjovik, Ph.D., associate professor and chair of the VCSU Department of Technology. “

College Choice cited VCSU’s online technology education program’s curriculum, which meets the standards set by the International Technology and Engineering Educators Association. The curriculum includes courses such as Innovation and Engineering Design, 3D Modeling and Design, STEM Curriculum and Methods, and Intelligent Machines, among others.

“This recognition is the result of years of dedicated commitment to providing online access to individuals seeking initial teaching licensure, bachelor’s or graduate degrees, and/or professional development opportunities,” says Peder Gjovik, Ph.D., associate professor and chair of the VCSU Department of Technology. “VCSU’s impact regionally and nationally continues to grow as online professional education offerings have expanded to several degree options in elementary, secondary and post secondary education. As an example, national leaders have referred to our technology education and career and technical education program offerings as ‘The VCSU Model’ or ‘VCSU’s Grand Experiment.’ It is my hope this recognition helps us continue our momentum.”
