VALLEY CITY,N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- It was a different week but the same results for the opponent of Bismarck St.Mary’s.Valley City was shut out 49-0 Friday night at Hanna Field a week after The Saints defeated Grafton by the same score.
A blocked punt early in the opening quarter set up Luke Kambeitz’s 5 yard touchdown reception. Joel Huber hit the pat and The Saints led 7-0. John Nordberg, Holten Bradley and Cole Gendreau found the end zone before the 1st quarter came to an end. With the 28-0 advantage St.Mary’s would go on to add touchdowns in each of the final 3 quarters.
Valley City had 4 first downs to The Saints 14. St.Mary’s Cole Gendreau was 7 for 9 with 98 yards and 3 touchdowns. Jonah Krebs had 73 yards on 10 carries with a touchdown. Luther Zeltinger led Valley City with 74 yards on 17 carries.
The 2-0 Saints return home next week to face Wahpeton.Valley City, still looking for their first win, will host Grafton. Coverage on KOVC starts around 6:35.
