(NewsDakota.com) Luke Foertsch scored three times; two on receptions for scores, and one on the ground, as the Wyndmere-Lidgerwood football team defeated Oakes 27-0 Friday night at Cummings Field.

The senior scored the first points of the game in the second quarter on a 10 yard run, and then scored as time was winding down in the half on a 12 yard reception; thrown by senior Wyatt Harles. Foertsch’s third score for the Warbirds (2-0) came midway through the fourth quarter on a 19 yard catch from Harles.

The Tornadoes managed around 100 yards of total offense for the game, and lost freshman quarterback Garrett Meehl in the second quarter with concussion symptoms. The first three drives for Oakes in the second half saw two interceptions and a fumble.

Oakes (1-1) travels to Steele next Friday, September 1, to play their first Region III game of the season against Kidder County. Coverage on KDDR-AM 1220/95.9 FM starts at 6:30 p.m. with kickoff at 7.
