BELCOURT,ND (NewsDakota.com)- The Braves experience showed as they controlled both sides of the football Friday night in Belcourt. Turtle Mountain defeated The Hi-Liners 48-12 on the first day of The Class AA football season. Valley City plays at home next week hosting Bismarck St.Mary’s while The Braves head to Wahpeton.

On the first play of the game Turtle Mountain’s Trevis LaRocque found the end zone on a 65 yard run.The 2 point attempt came up short for The Braves. Luther Zeltinger returned the ensuing kick off 80 yards to answer right back . A missed 2 points by Valley City left the game tied at 6. Turtle Mountain retook the lead on a scoring run by Tanner Brien. LaRocque had a successful run for the two point conversion making the score 14-6. A long drive set up another Zeltinger touchdown. The Hi-Liners again missed extra points and 14-12 is the closest they’d trim their deficit all night.

Turtle Mountain added on 34 more points while keeping Valley City out of the end zone. The Hi-Liners controlled the ball for a majority of the 3rd quarter but their drive stalled in The Brave’s 5 yard line.
