Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7 pm at the church with a prayer service at 7pm. Visitation will continue one hour before the service at the church. Samuel passed away August 18, 2017 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Rochester, MN.
Sam was born September 7, 2005 in Valley City, ND to Jerry & Amy (Nelson) Noeske. He joined his two sisters, Jenessa and Lindsey.
Sam was kind, generous, goofy, and so much fun to be around. He was a loving and huggable boy, even though he pretended not to like the bear hugs we would supply. Like any young boy, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing with his friends, video games (especially Minecraft where he was Stealthman207), football, baseball, and basketball. He found joy in going to classic car shows with his dad, especially those where there was extra fun like fairs or walking across the Mississippi headwaters. He created a playlist of his favorite songs for the road trips and especially loved to jam out to “Juke Box Hero.” Sam was becoming his Dad’s best friend. His Dad had been and always will be his hero.
Sam was a fiercely loyal friend. As a sweet, gentle giant, he stood up for those in need; his tender-heart would not let him do otherwise. His friends were as varied as his interests. His smile was contagious and his laugh was like no other. With the community, Sam could be a man of few words and stay in the background. He was reluctant to go up to the Children’s Moment at church because he didn’t want to get called on. When Sam did speak, mainly with his family and friends, he spoke volumes and was insightful beyond his years.
Sam’s Mom was his rock. If Dad was Sam’s buddy, mom was his everything else. They had such an incredible bond from the beginning, something you only get between a mother and her baby boy. She was there for every tear, every scrape, every accomplishment, and every phase. Looking down upon her now, there is no doubt he now sees that she was his Super Mom in every sense of the word.
Sam adored his sisters. Like any siblings do, they fought, but they were always there for each other in the end. He found unique interests with each of them. With Jenessa, he was quite curious about riding horses and would beg her to teach him. With Lindsey, they loved to throw or volley a ball around to enjoy the day and work off some energy. Ever giddy to learn, he so enjoyed those lessons and the time with his sisters.
Sam may have been taken from this world too soon at the age of eleven, but he cut a wide-swath. He was born with a heart that was imperfect by this world’s standards, but in the end his heart was the most perfect of them all. This is proven in all the lives he impacted and all the beautiful memories he helped to create. We know that Sam is not gone; Sam will live on in all of us until we meet again in the beautiful hereafter. What a glorious day that will be.
Sam is survived by his parents Jerry & Amy Noeske, sisters Jenessa & Lindsey, Grandmother Helen Noeske, and uncles, aunts and cousins: Cindy Moe, Tanner (Kelsey, Olivia & Henrik), Moe & Tobey Moe; Jay & Lisa Nelson, Aloria & Charlie; Ron Nelson, Taylor & Bailey; Brad & Janelle Noeske, Jeff & Jill (Zach Rischmiller, Max & Hadley); Bill & Nancy Noeske, Stephanie (Kris Overby, Henry), David (Amanda Sieg, Elsie), & Nick; Jim & Aimee Noeske, Beau, Jayme & Blake. Sam also leaves behind a large extended family and so many friends. Preceding him to heaven were grandparents Carl & Barb Nelson and Ralph Noeske.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel, Valley City. An online guestbook for Sam is available at olivernathanchapel.com.
