CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A Valley City Public School District student died on August 18th and the school district is mourning.

Superintendent Josh Johnson issued this statement on Friday, August 18th.

He said, “It is with great sadness that we have to tell you that one of our students, Samuel Noeske, has passed away.  Everyone at Valley City Public Schools wants you and your student to know that we are here to help you in any way we can.

We understand that people will react to Sam’s death in their own way, and we all need to be supportive of one another through this difficult time.  Staff at VCPS wants you and your student to know that we are here to help in any way that we can.  Students may react in their own way to Sam’s death.  Valley City Public School counselors will be available to help.  If your student would like to talk to a counselor, please come to the District Office located at 460 Central Ave N (located directly across from VCHS) during the times listed below or call the VCPS counseling hotline at 701.890.0081.

Counseling Service will be provided for the following days/times:
    Friday, August 18th 1:00pm-6:00pm
    Monday, August 21st 8:00am-4:00pm

We are grateful for the support of other staff from across the district, staff from other area districts, and dozens of community partners.  Please note that VCPS will not be accepting requests for interviews on this matter.  Today we allow our VCPS staff and families time to grieve.

Together, and with each other’s support, we will get through this difficult time.

Sincerely,
