N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – North Dakota’s Congressional delegation announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Office of Rural Development awarded 1,000 to the Tharaldson Ethanol Plant in Casselton.
The funds will be used as part of a more than $3.4 million expansion to the plant which includes the construction of a new fermenter and cooling tower cell.
U.S. Senator John Hoeven issues a statement stating, “earlier this year, Tharaldson Ethanol produced their one billionth gallon of ethanol,” Hoeven said. “They continue to grow, and with Tharaldson Ethanol’s new expansion, they will be able to help meet the increasing energy needs of our state and nation.”
Congressman Kevin Cramer said, “it’s great to see the Rural Development office recognizing the benefits of the Tharaldson Ethanol Plant,” said Cramer. “I wish them the best of luck on their expansion, and I look forward to seeing the final product once it’s all finished.”
U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp said, “North Dakotans understand what it means to implement a true all-of-the-above energy strategy,” said Heitkamp. “In North Dakota, we have wind, coal, natural gas, and bio-fuels among other sources that support good-paying jobs, create affordable energy, and keep our nation moving. This federal funding will support the expansion of the ethanol plant in Casselton that produces the fuels to meet our energy demands.”
This federal funding is made available through the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development’s Rural Energy for America Program (REAP). This grant program works to help farmers, ranchers, and rural businesses implement energy efficiency and renewable energy programs.
