N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown City Council has entered into an agreement with the James River Rodeo that will be reviewed yearly.

The council met in regular session Monday, August 7th. The council approved several items including a license agreement with Arvig Enterprises, Inc to place 10,634 feet of conduit and fiber optic cable within Jamestown, paving of Menards to JRMC road, and several payments for ongoing projects.

The city then discussed bids for purchasing new city equipment, including a new 3 cubic yard, 4 wheel-drive Loader for the Street Department. The council unanimously approved the bid of $78,950 to Titan Machinery. The council also looked at the purchase of two new Stage Snow Blowers for the Street Department.

Street Foreman Harold Sad reports that the bid he recommended would also help when heavy snowfall arrived on the Menard’s to JRMC road.

The council approved a bid of $94,900 to Swanson, Inc. for the snow blowers.

The council also held a first reading for the requirement of red reflectors on the front of trailers parked on city streets facing oncoming traffic. A second reading to allow the sale of Growlers in on-sale alcohol establishments was also passed.

In other business, the contract between the City and James River Rodeo Association was brought forth. Attorney Abbagail Geroux reports that the changes had been reviewed and approved by the association.

City Councilwoman Pam Phillips pointed out that this would replace the contract the city had with the Rodeo for the last five years.

The one year agreement will place responsibilities on the Rodeo Association.
