N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Central Valley Health (CVH) has received a grant to help address underage drinking in Stutsman, Logan and surrounding counties.
CVH has spent the last few years assessing the community’s need and gaining support. By August 1st, they began implementing the project. Shannon Kaiser is the Partnership for Success Grant Coordinator.
CVH Unit Administrator Robin Iszler pointed out that with the upcoming school year, underage drinking will become a primary focus for them to address.
Iszler says the concern with alcohol is it can be considered a gateway drug, leading to experimentation that can be dangerous.
Central Valley Health will be focusing their efforts on the prevention of retail and social access of alcohol to youth. This includes purchasing alcohol in bars, restaurants and liquor stores as well as parties, weddings, and family members.
