N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A two vehicle crash in Sargent County Saturday claimed the life of a 19 year-old West Fargo male.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports that the male was traveling north on 123rd Avenue on a Honda dirt bike at around 11:26 PM. The bike was not equipped with a headlight and the speed of the dirt bike is unknown. Clayton Hoffman, 56, of Oakes was driving south in a UTV when he failed to avoid the dirt bike and struck it head on.
The 19 year-old was thrown from the bike. He was transported to the Oakes Community Hospital where he died from his injuries sustained in the crash. Hoffman and his passenger, Julie Serfoss, 55, of Oakes were not injured in the crash.
Hoffman was taken into custody after the crash and charges are pending against him in the investigation. Alcohol was a factor in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
