N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Clean Water State Revolving Fund program awarded loans to three North Dakota cities in 2017.

The North Dakota Department of Health reports that Lidgerwood will receive $100,000 toward a $220,000 project to finance emergency sewer main repairs to prevent sewage backups.

The news release said Oakes will receive $365,000 to finance the relocation of the main lift station to a higher elevation to avoid future flooding.

And Wahpeton will receive $1,046,000 to finance the reconstruction of storm sewer and sanitary sewer main to ensure sufficient capacity in both systems.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency provides part of the funding for the CWSRF Program, which offers below-market interest rate loans to political subdivisions for financing projects authorized under the Clean Water Act.

CWSRF programs operate nationwide to provide the funding necessary to maintain and improve the infrastructure that protects our valuable water resources.
