N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The City of Jamestown will be looking for another City Administrator.
Jeff Fuchs submitted his letter of retirement to the city council prior to their Finance & Legal Committee meeting Tuesday, July 25th. He has served Jamestown in that capacity for the last 40 years.
Mayor Katie Andersen reported that Fuchs had submitted his letter 6 months prior to his retiring date, in accordance with the city code. She says they will now begin seeking an agency to handle the hiring process, bringing up a company that had helped Williston hire an administrator.
“I would like to thank you, the current city council and all previous mayors and council members for the numerous opportunities for professional and personal development that everyone has provided me over the past 40 years,” Fuchs says in his letter. “I have thoroughly enjoyed working for the City of Jamestown and its residents and appreciate the support provided me during my tenure with the City.”
Most of the city council members had something to say about Fuchs announcing his retirement. Here’s Councilman Dan Buchanan.
It was reported that the city would like to fill the position by November 1st, but Councilman Buchanan said that may be unrealistic. Mayor Andersen agreed.
Buchanan asked if Fuchs would be available if they were unable to find someone to fill his position by December 31st. Fuchs said he would, but not in a full-time capacity.
Councilwoman Pam Phillips pointed out that Fuchs’ shoes would be hard to fill when he steps down at the end of the year.
The council approved the hiring of the firm AE2S to conduct the hiring process of finding a new City Auditor. You can read Fuchs’ retirement letter below.
