(NewsDaktoa.com) They were the number one team in the regular season in their region, and didn’t lose a game.
In the post-season, the Enderlin Post 221 American Legion baseball team was just as impressive, sweeping all three games they were a part of, and as a result, claimed the Class B Southeast Region Championship Saturday afternoon with a 15-1 win in four and a half innings over Oakes Post 36 at Hendrickson Field.
Once again, Enderlin were masters at the plate, with 12 hits, including two home runs; a two run blast from Brandon Utke in the first inning, and a solo shot from Jorun Hamre in the second. Hamre would register a double in the first, a triple in the second, and hit for the cycle for the first time in his career with a single in the fourth.
Peter Lingren earned the win, going all five innings while striking out 11. Isaiah Hoelscher took the loss for Post 36, lasting just an innings, with three hits and three earned runs. Hoelscher scored the lone Oakes run in the second inning.
Both Enderlin and Oakes have advanced to the State Class B Tournament in Steele, which starts Wednesday. Enderlin will face Nelson County, while Oakes meets Thompson, the winners from the Northeast Region.
