D.C. (NewsDakota.com) North Dakota Senator John Hoeven said the Federal Aviation Administration has awarded grants totaling ,509,223 to airports in North Dakota.

The Ashley Municipal Airport will receive $971,100. The funds will be used to rehabilitate the airport’s runway, taxiway and apron.

The State of North Dakota, International Peace Garden Airport will receive $188,511. The funds will be used to update the airport’s master plan and layout addressing future development.

The Grafton Municipal Airport Authority will receive $140,783. The funds will be used to replace the airport’s wind cone and rehabilitate the runway’s lighting and vertical/visual guidance systems.

The Gwinner Municipal Airport Authority will receive $84,600. The funds will be used to help construct a new hangar building and taxiway to provide access to hangars.

The Barnes County Municipal Airport Authority will receive $79,229. The funding will be used for installing a fence around the perimeter of the airport to help protect aircraft from wildlife.

And the Casselton Regional Airport Authority will receive $45,000.  The funding will be used to rehabilitate the airport’s apron.

Hoeven said, “the funding will help airports around our state invest in future development while helping make these airports safer,” He added, “by making these investments, we are helping to promote economic activity in the communities which these airports serve.”
