N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Several young men from Galveston County, Texas spent Friday in Jamestown selling handmade jewelry and crosses to help raise money for their mission.
Their mission? Face life-controlling issues through faith.
Strong Tower Ministries is a free, 12-month residential assistance program. Men’s Students are on schedule to learn how to communicate, develop a work ethic and cultivate healthy relationships. Through this, the program helps them build a spiritual foundation.
Intake Director Mark Shannon was assisting the boys at their spot in front of Wal-Mart Friday afternoon. He says those in the program had spent time creating all of the items.
“About four hours a day,” Shannon stated. “You can see all the names on each item that was created.”
Shannon says they intake young men and women in their program from Florida, Arizona, Colorado and California.
“We frequent the Midwest trying to spread our mission and the word of Christ,” Shannon pointed out. “We usually only come to North Dakota during the summer because the winter is too cold to be standing out here doing this,” he joked.
The group of young men will travel to Dickinson Saturday and return to Jamestown Sunday before heading back to Texas.
Below are some photos of their inventory during Friday, June 30th. Each item is handmade by the different men and women in the program.
