N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The North Dakota Game & Fish Department is taking time to remind state residents that there has be lifejackets on boats at all time.

Game & Fish Biologist Doug Leier says when it comes to life jackets, kids 10 and under must be wearing a personal floatation device. Smaller and medium sized boats, the children are required to wear that lifejacket. Leier says state law doesn’t require lifejackets on those 10 and older, but it is required when being pulled on the water.

New legislation passed in the last session does not require a spotter on the lakes if the jet ski has side mirrors.

Leier points out that it’s these safety measures that ensure everyone has fun, but remains safe while out this summer.
