CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Denton Berntson estate donated 0,000 to the Relay for Life of Barnes County on Friday, June 16th. 0,000 will go toward colon cancer treatment and another 0,000 will go toward breast cancer treatment. Last year the estate donated 0,000 to the Relay for Life.

Local Relay for Life spokesman Rad Nicholson said the estate has donated a total of $1,290,000 over the last two years.

The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network says this donation is one of the largest in the nation.

Denton Berntson passed away in February of 2016, his wife Paulette died in 2004. After she lost her battle to breast cancer, the family has participated in the Relay for Life every year.

The donation ceremony was held during the Relay for Life of Barnes County in Valley City on June 16th.
